A Look Inside: An AAMC Smoking Cessation Class

February 1, 2010

The 2009 Great American Smokeout will occur on November 19th. According to the American Cancer Society, the purpose of the event is to set aside a day each year to help smokers quit smoking or quit using tobacco products, at least for a day. The hope, of course, is to help them quit completely. In this edition of the AAMC Health Connection Videocast, AAMC Smoking Cessation nurse Joanne Ebner, RN, discusses aamcs role in the Great American Smokeout, and how even quitting for one day can drastically improve the bodys internal chemistry. She also provides some insight on why aamcs campus became Smoke Free in July 2007, and how smoking can impair the bodys ability to heal.
