Due to a drug and chemical interaction, nicotine makes the body release its own stores of sugar and fats; hence the fact nicotine is a powerful appetite suppressant. Non-smokers have to maintain their blood sugar level with food, and it takes about 22 minutes for food to become effective from the moment you chew and swallow it.

Nicotine makes the body release its own stores of sugar and fat, and this becomes effective almost immediately. So when someone stops smoking they need time to allow their bodies to adjust to the changes. Natural fruit juice is supposed to be helpful in maintaining blood sugar levels. As long as youve been a smoker youve also maintained your blood sugar using cigarettes.

    Thanks…now ya talking :-)

I’m sure smokers really wouldn’t mind a couple of pounds extra…and the chance to enjoy some outdoor exercises..maybe a run on a beach or in the park..on a bike maybe…but its all better than lying in a brown box countless years before they should.

Be an ex-smoker creates a beautiful new you with untold new great emotions and energy. It is simply great.

If someone is worried about putting on a few pounds when they quit they should be told to work out a little more to make up for the calories that they would of burned by smoking.

thats because the body’s defense system is working overtime( alot faster than normal) trying eliminate them poisons from the blood…this takes energy and energy costs calories…but you burn cals, sleeping, thinking, and writing stupid comments like yours when you should state a fact but top it off with a recommendation that this is the most pathetic and worst way to burn calories…especially when young people who want to stop smoking read comments and look at the videos here. be more positive

While I support this mans point his information is just wrong. The chemicals in cigs do make you burn calories faster, its just a fact.
