Got something to say?

HI! from slovakia!!!!
The ballast is water. It increases the wing loading. Better wing loading means best glide speed increases (Best glider speed= speed that you go the further for the altitude that you loose. Not to be confused with the min sink speed=loosing the least altitude for any given time). For a glider this is a good because it means its more efficient at higher speeds and you can fly longer distances. Up to 1000+km are flown regularly in Australia, the best place for gliding!!
@oraclepw Thank you, very informative. Here’s another question if you have the time. Wouldn’t the water inside of the aircraft cause some type of handling problems due to the dynamics of the water movement? Forgive my ignorance, I’m just doing as much research as I possibly can. Also, I think you are right about the scene at 2:05, just awesome!!!
It’s purely weight ballast, located on the centre of gravity, and it helps the aircraft penetrate in windy conditions. The aircraft glides much faster when ballasted. The glide ratio isn’t reduced as much as we might think, which is why the ballast is almost always dumped before landing.
Oh, and the scene at 2:05 is one of the greatest in gliding vids!!! Lovin’ it!!!!
What is the water for? Is it for ballast? If so, what kind of ballast is it providing and why? – thank you
(prospective glider pilot)
thermals
With thermals, ridge lift, wave and kinetic energy.
how do they fly so long?
Love the shots of the water ballast being dumped! Cool!!
ahh france….i agree…ive only seen french countryside form a eurostar window but from what i saw it was stunning
and i like how you’ve used a capital letter for everywhere but france lool XD
i dont know much about south africa though….
thank you
Freeking amazing aircraft. The only comercial planes I think NEED engines, are airliners.
its nice, but best glider places in world: South Africa, then france, then England, Then Germany (even though they make the stuff
)
People. You can watch and download this video to your ipod via Google video (not youtube).
Type in “UK Smokin” and voila!
Happy flying
well said sir
first song name ?
What is the first song?
Nice work. keep it up. mean time come for social media marketing for esteembpo**com HGBKIADF
Well, on takeoff, they can use a high speed and high powered winch to get them to altitude, then they can either thermal, slope soar, or even have a plane tow them to very high altitudes.
you just gotta love the british countryside
id rather be here in britain on a blue summers day than spain or somewhere like tht:)
(i live in essex loool)
Gliders get so high with the help of: Thermals, Ridge lift, Wave lift and some other sources of lift… you can find it all in Wikipedia, search for – Glider, Gliding, Thermal, Ridge lift and Lee waves.
I hope i helped you, Enjoy
wow, almost look like model airplanes lol
can some one tell me how gliders get some much speed and how they go so hi
The Songs is: LTJ BUKEM – HORIZONS
what is the last song called? can any1 help me pleasssseeee?? brilliant video
